Newton’s Duet revolves around the interaction between man and technology. The choreography explores the line between the positive and negative influences of technology on people and society.

Dancers and drones take you into an enchanting dialogue that tells the tale of the symbiotic relationships between man and technology. This alternation between harmony and confrontation creates an exciting and dynamic duet.

The reference to Isaac Newton in the title is based on the three laws of nature by which Newton described the motion and equilibrium of forces. These laws of nature make him one of the founders of classical mechanics.

The great technological innovations that are now central to the ethical discussions around technology, have built on the work of Newton to a certain extent – making Newton’s work an interesting starting point for this almost futuristic choreography.

"Warfare with drones, taking photos with drones, but the remote-controlled mini-planes now also have an artistic application. Choreographer David Middendorp of dance company Another Kind of Blue was the first in the world to write a ballet for a dancer with a drone."
